Preservative-free life

Chemical preservatives are used to prolong the shelf life of proceed food products. These preservatives are generally regarded as safe, otherwise health authorities such as Health Canada and the US Food and Drug Administration would not have allowed food manufacturers to add them in processed food. But wouldn’t you rather eat preservatives free food? I am a scientist with a doctorate degree in cell biology. Since having children, I have been looking for preservative free food option.
